Metallic brackets
Ceramic brackets
Lingual brackets
Clear aligners
These are the classic metallic brackets that are bonded on each tooth with composite resin. They connect and align the teeth through a wire. The contemporary metallic brackets are small and discreet. Patients are given the option to choose the color of the elastic ligatures. They are preferred for the treatment of children.
They are almost similar in shape and size to their metallic counterparts, but they are white and allow the light to pass through them. This option is considered even more discreet and aesthetic. Their use is recommended for adult patients.
They are placed on the lingual side of the teeth and are invisible from the outside. Their disadvantages are their cost and the difficulty to keep them clean. They are considered to be optimal for adults.
They consist of a series of invisible aligners, that have to be worn 22 hours per day. They are made of thermoplastic material. Depending on the severity of the orthodontic problem, they have to be changed periodically.
